Taj Mahal West City Gate

The West Gate of the Taj Mahal, historically known as the Fatehpuri Gate, is one of the three primary entrances to the monument complex. It is a striking three-story structure built of red sandstone that contrasts sharply with the white marble of the mausoleum beyond. The gate features a grand, recessed arch, known as an iwan, set within a rectangular frame. Like the other gateways leading to the central char bagh garden, its design emphasizes the symmetry and hierarchy that define Mughal architecture.
