The Alipore Jail Museum occupies an expansive, brick-red complex covering fifteen acres in Kolkata. Completed in nineteen oh six, the facility functioned as a high-security prison for decades, holding political leaders and revolutionaries against British colonial rule. After closing as a correctional institution in twenty nineteen, the site reopened in twenty twenty-two, featuring original cell blocks and the gallows used during the independence movement.
