The Cave of Sejanus is a seven hundred seventy meter long tunnel carved directly through the volcanic tuff of the Posillipo hill. This passage, characterized by its high, arched walls, was originally designed by the architect Lucius Cocceius Auctus in the first century BC to link elite Roman villas with the ports of Puteoli and Cumae.
