The Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista is defined by a pale white marble facade that stands out sharply against the brick-dominated architecture typical of Turin. Built between fourteen ninety-one and fourteen ninety-eight, this Renaissance structure replaced three older, medieval basilicas on the same site. It is the only cathedral of its style in the city, centered on a Latin cross plan with an octagonal tower rising above the transept.
