The Museo Egizio occupies the Palazzo dell'Accademia delle Scienze, a historic building in the center of Turin. It holds the distinction of being the oldest museum in the world dedicated entirely to ancient Egyptian culture, having been established in eighteen twenty-four by King Charles Felix of Savoy. The collection began with the acquisition of over five thousand artifacts from the French diplomat Bernardino Drovetti, a massive trove that transformed Turin into a central hub for early Egyptology.
