The Hakone Ropeway is an aerial tramway stretching four kilometers across the volcanic mountains of Kanagawa Prefecture. You can identify the route by the gondolas gliding between its four stations, which connect Sounzan to Togendai on the shores of Lake Ashi. Since opening in nineteen fifty-nine, the ropeway has provided a primary transit link for the region, carrying visitors over the shifting geothermal landscape of Owakudani.
