Hoppy Street

Hoppy Street is a short, eighty-meter lane running along the west side of Sensoji Temple, marked by rows of red paper lanterns and open-air tables set out on the pavement. Official records call this Koen Hon-dori Shopping Street, but it gained its popular name from the low-alcohol, beer-flavored drink that defines the local menu. The street is also known as Nikomi Dori, or Stew Street, for the beef tendon dishes simmered in soy sauce and sake that have been a staple here for decades.
