The Mercado Publico Ca'axihil stands as a modest, concrete structure in the heart of Tulum Centro, near the intersection of Calle Orión Sur. Founded in the year two thousand, the market was established to provide a centralized hub for local trade. It houses forty individual stalls that operate today much as they have for decades, selling staples such as fresh meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables, and prepared dishes from regional kitchens.
