MELBA Vulcan is a café located at thirty-three Vulcan Lane, a narrow, historic pedestrian thoroughfare in the heart of central Auckland. It is the original site of the MELBA brand, which first opened its doors in this spot in nineteen ninety-five. The cafe was named by its founder, Chris Upton, who drew inspiration from a diner he visited in the United States that embodied the welcoming atmosphere of the television show Cheers.
