Yangshuo Lijiang River Scenic Area

The Yangshuo Lijiang River Scenic Area features thousands of towering, conical limestone peaks that rise abruptly from the flat valley floor. These dramatic karst formations emerged from millions of years of erosion, which sculpted the soft bedrock into jagged towers and cave systems stretching toward the horizon. The landscape appears on the back of the twenty yuan banknote, specifically the view near Yellow Cloth Shoal where seven peaks reflect onto the river surface.
