Erwang Temple sits on the slopes of Yulei Mountain, characterized by a series of steep stone staircases that ascend through courtyards to reach its main halls. The temple is dedicated to Li Bing, a Qin dynasty official who engineered the Dujiangyan irrigation system, and his son, Erlang. Both men are credited with ending the cycle of flooding and drought that once devastated the Chengdu Plain.
