The Yap-San Diego Ancestral House stands out in the Parian district for its heavy, weathered coral stone walls and a roof of traditional Chinese terracotta tiles. Built between sixteen seventy-five and seventeen hundred, this two-story structure is one of the oldest residential homes in the Philippines. It was originally constructed by a Chinese merchant named Don Juan Yap and his wife, Doña Maria Florido, during a period when the Spanish colonial government required Chinese residents of Cebu to live in this specific neighborhood.
