The Gomburza Monument is a massive bronze sculpture rising from the center of a low, square fountain along Padre Burgos Avenue. Created by Filipino sculptor Solomon Saprid, the work features three triangular figures representing the priests Mariano Gomes, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora. The trio was executed by garrote on February seventeenth, eighteen seventy-two, after being accused of subversion following a military mutiny in Cavite.
