Casa Manila

museum

Casa Manila is recognizable by its heavy stone lower walls and an upper level of dark, polished wood, featuring large windows fitted with translucent capiz shells instead of glass. It is a reconstructed mansion in the Intramuros district, designed to reflect the domestic life of an affluent family during the late nineteenth century. The building belongs to the Plaza San Luis complex, a collection of homes built in the nineteen eighties to revive the architectural character of Manila after the widespread destruction of World War Two.
