Ganymede's Fountain

Ganymede's Fountain features a bronze sculpture at its peak, where an eagle carries the mythological youth Ganymede toward Mount Olympus. Unveiled in eighteen eighty-eight, this Neo-Baroque fountain sits in front of the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre. It was a gift from the First Bratislava Savings Bank and holds the distinction of being the first decorative fountain in the city designed for aesthetic purposes rather than as a primary water supply.
