Hermandad de Montserrat

The Hermandad de Montserrat is defined by its simple, rectangular chapel, which stands apart from the grander churches nearby. This religious brotherhood, officially the Pontifical, Royal, Illustrious, Ancient and Primitive Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary and Brotherhood of Nazarenes of the Holy Christ of the Conversion of the Good Thief and Our Lady of Montserrat, was established in sixteen oh one. It was founded by Catalan merchants who had settled in Seville to manage trade with the Americas, bringing their devotion to the Virgin of Montserrat with them from their homeland.
