The Baylands Nature Preserve is defined by nearly two thousand acres of tidal and freshwater marshland, the largest remaining tract of its kind in the San Francisco Bay. While much of the surrounding region is shaped by the development of Silicon Valley, this preserve serves as a major stopover on the Pacific Flyway, where the flat, open landscape provides a protected home for migratory shorebirds and species like the Ridgway’s rail.
