Stanford Red Barn

The Stanford Red Barn is a Victorian-era structure built between eighteen seventy-eight and eighteen eighty, identifiable by its Stick-Eastlake architectural style and deep red exterior. It stands as one of only two original buildings surviving from the massive Palo Alto Stock Farm, an eight-thousand-acre horse-breeding enterprise established by Leland Stanford before the university was founded. This farm is the reason the university is still affectionately called The Farm.
