Kendall Alley is one of the cobblestone thoroughfares that wind through Old Pasadena, recognizable by its vintage appearance that persists much as it did in the nineteen thirties. Named for Bela Otis Kendall, a prominent local real estate developer who built a business empire during the boom of eighteen eighty-six, the alley serves as a reminder of the era when his firm shaped the city's commercial core. Kendall was responsible for notable local structures such as the Kinney-Kendall building at the corner of Colorado Boulevard and Raymond Avenue.
