Tower Theater

The Tower Theater is defined by its prominent forty-foot steel tower, a beacon of Art Deco design that rises above the commercial bustle of Southwest Eighth Street. Opened in nineteen twenty-six, it began as a Mediterranean Revival movie palace and served as one of the most advanced theaters in the American South. In nineteen thirty-one, a major renovation replaced its original facade with smooth stucco surfaces and the geometric patterns that characterize the building today.
