The St. Charles Streetcar Line consists of olive-green cars traveling along a grassy median on St. Charles Avenue. Operating since eighteen thirty-five, this is the oldest continuously running streetcar line in the world. While other cities across America replaced their tracks with buses in the mid-twentieth century, this route survived to carry passengers through the Garden District and Uptown neighborhoods for nearly two centuries.
