Marks Park

park garden

Marks Park is a grassy headland on Mackenzies Point, defined by its wide, exposed lawns and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean between Bondi and Tamarama. Designated as a military reserve in eighteen eighty-five, the land was later leased by the local council in nineteen twenty-nine and named for a member of parliament who helped secure the lease. While the park is today a frequent stop for walkers on the coastal path, its landscape was intentionally shaped by regrading work in the nineteen fifties and again in the nineteen eighties.
