Union United Church, located on Delisle Street, began in nineteen oh seven when a group of Black railway porters and their wives met to establish a place where they could worship freely. These founders faced racial exclusion at other local churches, where they were often relegated to back pews or denied entry entirely. They pooled their resources, starting the congregation with two dollars, and held their first services at a local dance hall.
