Ocho y Medio

Ocho y Medio is identified by its presence in the traditional La Floresta neighborhood, where it operates two cinema screens from a building on the corner of Valladolid and Vizcaya streets. Founded in two thousand one by a collective of filmmakers, producers, and artists, the organization functions as a hub for independent and Ecuadorian cinema. It distinguishes itself from mainstream multiplexes by hosting avant-garde theater, photography exhibitions, and significant national film festivals, including the Encuentros del Otro Cine.
