Sulayman Pasha Mosque

religious

The Sulayman Pasha Mosque is set apart by its central dome paneled with green-glazed tiles and a slender, pencil-shaped minaret. Located within the northern enclosure of the Citadel, it was completed in fifteen twenty-eight by Sulayman Pasha al-Khadim, who served as the Ottoman governor of Egypt. This structure holds the distinction of being the first mosque in Egypt built in the Ottoman architectural style, marking a shift away from the local Mamluk traditions that had long defined Cairo’s skyline.
