The Mosque of Sayeda Ruqaia is distinguished by its lobed, ribbed dome, which sits atop an octagonal drum pierced with pairs of windows. Built in eleven thirty-three, this Fatimid-era structure features a triple-arched portico and intricate stucco work, including a celebrated prayer niche, or mihrab, that remains one of the finest examples of medieval carving in Cairo.
