The Place Nautique is a large, purpose-built water basin that draws the Saône River into the heart of the city, creating a maritime atmosphere where industrial docks once stood. Nearly as vast as the historic Place Bellecour, the basin features docks for pleasure boats and serves as a transition point for vessels traveling between cities like Marseille and Amsterdam. Pedestrians cross the water on a wood and metal footbridge that spans the center of the harbor, connecting the surrounding modern development with the riverbanks.
