People’s Publishing House is located in the Marina Arcade of Connaught Place. It is distinguished by its history as a primary distributor of Soviet literature in India. Established in nineteen forty-two, it began as the publishing arm of the Communist Party of India. During the nineteen seventies and eighties, the shop was a regular destination for intellectuals and students, often seeing a thousand visitors a day who came to purchase books and magazines imported from the Soviet Union.
