Vidyarthi Bhavan is a heritage restaurant in Gandhi Bazaar, recognizable by the queues of hungry patrons waiting outside its unassuming entrance. Established in nineteen forty-three by brothers Venkataramana and Parameshwara Ural, the canteen was named for its original clientele: the students from nearby institutions like National College and Acharya Patashala. The name reflects a common naming convention of the era, where the suffix Bhavan, meaning house, identified local meeting spots.
