Shri Gavi Gangadhareshwara Swamy Temple

The Shri Gavi Gangadhareshwara Swamy Temple in Kempegowda Nagar is recognizable by the four massive granite pillars in its forecourt, which feature carved stone discs representing the sun and moon, along with a trident and a drum. This cave temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is carved directly into a natural monolithic rock formation. While legends suggest the site dates to the Vedic period, it was extensively expanded in the sixteenth century by Kempe Gowda the First, the founder of Bengaluru.
