The Hilton Tel Aviv is a large hotel defined by its position on a limestone cliff, rising directly from the greenery of Independence Park. Opened in September nineteen sixty-five, it was designed by architects Yaakov Rechter and Werner Joseph Wittkower in a late modern style. The building occupies land that formerly served as a Muslim cemetery for the residents of Al-Mas'udiyya, a village depopulated in nineteen forty-eight.
