Kampung Kling Masjid

religious

The Kampung Kling Mosque is defined by a minaret that rises like a Chinese pagoda, standing in striking contrast to the triple-tiered, pyramidal roof that covers its main prayer hall. Built in seventeen forty-eight by Indian Muslim traders, the structure was originally made of wood before being replaced by the current brick building in eighteen seventy-two. Its name recalls the village where those traders lived, a site now located on a thoroughfare famously known as Harmony Street.
