Black Dragon Pool (Northwest Gate)

park garden

Black Dragon Pool is a spring-fed pond set at the foot of Elephant Hill, recognizable by the snow-capped reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on its still, clear surface. Originally established in seventeen thirty-seven during the Qing Dynasty, the park functions as the primary water source for Lijiang Ancient Town. A white marble bridge spans the pond, separating it into two sections that locals claim host different water colors and fish that never cross between them.
