The words "Nigdy Więcej Wojny," which translate to "No More War," appear in large white block letters at the entrance to the path leading toward the Westerplatte Monument. This inscription sits in a grassy area of the Westerplatte peninsula in Gdańsk, the site where the German battleship Schleswig-Holstein opened fire on a Polish military transit depot at four forty-five in the morning on September first, nineteen thirty-nine.
