The Július Satinský Statue on Dunajská Street is a shiny, chrome monument capturing the likeness of one of Slovakia’s most celebrated comedians. Born in Bratislava in nineteen forty-one, Satinský was a central figure in the country’s cultural life as an actor, writer, and the more mischievous half of a legendary comedy duo with Milan Lasica. They spent decades performing sketches and songs that became staples of Slovak entertainment, often navigating censorship during the Socialist era.
