Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan

Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan is defined by its Loha Prasat, or Metal Castle, a seven-story structure rising thirty-six meters into the air and capped with thirty-seven distinct black, now-gilded, metal spires. These spires represent the thirty-seven virtues required to attain enlightenment in Buddhism. The complex, located at the intersection of Ratchadamnoen Klang and Maha Chai Road, was commissioned in eighteen forty-six by King Rama the Third as a tribute to his granddaughter, Princess Somanass Waddhanawathy.
