religious

Wat Bowonniwetwiharn Ratchaworawiharn is marked by a large golden stupa that rises above the temple grounds, acting as the heart of this royal complex. Established in eighteen twenty-four by the viceroy Mahasakti Pol Sep during the reign of King Rama the Third, the temple sits on the northeastern side of Rattanakosin Island. It is a first-class royal monastery and a foundational center for the Thammayut Nikaya order of Thai Theravada Buddhism.
