The First Church of Chiang Mai

The First Church of Chiang Mai is a wooden structure characterized by its distinct weatherboard design, standing near the banks of the Ping River. Completed in eighteen ninety-one, it represents the first Protestant mission established in Northern Siam. The American missionary Daniel McGilvary arrived in the city in eighteen sixty-seven and received a plot of land from the ruler of Chiang Mai, Kawilorot Suriyawong, to begin his work.
