Wat Buppharam stands along Thapae Road, just outside the historic walled city of Chiang Mai. You can identify the complex by the presence of a small, quirky statue of Donald Duck eating noodles in the courtyard, a contrast to the site’s long history. Established in fourteen ninety-seven by King Mueangkaeo of the Lanna Kingdom, the temple served as a site for a monk from Sukhothai to observe his rain retreat.
