Stable Way is a micro-hamlet of caravans and bungalows tucked directly beneath the concrete pillars of the Westway flyover. It sits wedged between the roaring lanes of traffic that link the A forty and local dual carriageways, marking a sharp contrast to the surrounding urban landscape of Shepherd's Bush. While the elevated motorway was constructed between nineteen sixty-four and nineteen seventy, the land itself has served as a stopping place for Romani and Irish Traveller families for centuries.
