Vauxhall Bridge

Vauxhall Bridge is defined by eight colossal bronze female figures, each standing in an alcove along the bridge piers. These statues, installed in nineteen oh seven, represent various disciplines including science, architecture, and engineering. They are set low on the granite-faced piers, tucked out of sight from the main roadway above. Because of this placement, the figures are most visible to people traveling on the water, rather than those crossing the bridge on foot or by bus.
