Lambeth Bridge

Lambeth Bridge is defined by its distinct red paint and the decorative obelisks topped with stone pinecones at either end. This five-span steel arch bridge opened in nineteen thirty-two, replacing an earlier, problematic suspension bridge that had been declared unsafe for vehicles. Its design, by engineer George Humphreys and architects Reginald Blomfield and George Topham Forrest, incorporates granite-clad piers and arches that carry traffic between Westminster and Lambeth.
