National Theatre

The National Theatre is defined by its massive, interlocking terraces of raw, pale concrete that cascade toward the River Thames. Designed by architect Denys Lasdun and completed in nineteen seventy-six, this Brutalist landmark was conceived as an urban landscape where public walkways and platforms blur the line between the building and the city. Two prominent, rectangular fly towers rise from these horizontal layers, marking the location of the main performance spaces.
