Windrush Monument

monument

The National Windrush Monument at London Waterloo station is a bronze sculpture featuring three figures—a man, a woman, and a child—dressed in their Sunday best. They stand together atop a large pile of suitcases, looking forward as if surveying a new country. Unveiled on Windrush Day in twenty twenty-two, the monument serves as a tribute to the Windrush generation, the Caribbean migrants who arrived in Britain between nineteen forty-eight and nineteen seventy-one.
