The Wiltern is instantly recognizable by the blue-green glazed terra-cotta tiles that sheath its twelve-story facade. This Art Deco landmark, situated at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue, rises from a site that was once a sheep ranch. Architect Stiles O. Clements designed the complex in nineteen thirty-one, choosing the distinctive tile color as a nod to the green pastures that formerly covered the land.
