The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library

The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library is instantly recognizable by its sprawling, elliptical glass dome, which rests at ground level like a translucent crystal egg. Opened in two thousand eleven, the structure serves as a high-density, automated storage facility for the University of Chicago, designed by architect Helmut Jahn to solve a critical shortage of space for millions of books.
