The Longhorn Ballroom is easy to identify by the massive, weathered marquee and the sprawling low-slung complex that occupies this corner of the Cedars neighborhood. Built in nineteen fifty by millionaire O.L. Nelms as Bob Wills’ Ranch House, it was designed as a dedicated performance home for the King of Western Swing. The site eventually became a crossroads for American music, hosting everyone from country stalwarts like Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn to jazz icons like Nat King Cole.
