South Side on Lamar is a massive ten-story brick structure that dominates the skyline of the Cedars neighborhood. It began in nineteen thirteen as the Sears, Roebuck and Company Catalogue Merchandise Center, serving as the first Sears warehouse facility built outside of the company’s Chicago headquarters. The building was designed by architects Lang and Witchell and grew over several years to encompass over one million square feet, eventually sprawling across eighteen acres.
