Dallas City Hall is defined by its dramatic, inverted pyramid shape, with a seven-story concrete facade that tilts outward at a thirty-four-degree angle. Designed by architect I. M. Pei and opened in nineteen seventy-eight, this Brutalist structure occupies a massive site at the southern edge of downtown. The building was commissioned during the nineteen sixties as part of an effort to reshape the city’s identity following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
