Reunion Tower is defined by the geodesic sphere that sits atop its slender concrete shaft, a shape locals call The Ball. Rising five hundred sixty-one feet above the city, the tower features a steel lattice dome covered in two hundred fifty-nine programmable light nodes. Designed by the firm Welton Becket and Associates, the structure was completed in nineteen seventy-eight as part of a massive project to redevelop a former rail yard at the edge of downtown.
